Ayer el mundo mágico de Harry Potter vivió otro de sus días grandes de 2023. Recordemos que hace unas semanas llegó a las tiendas el Hogwarts Legacy, un juego que ha arrasado en ventas.

Y hace unos días en HBO anunciaron una serie sobre el mundo mágico de Harry Potter. Si a todo esto le sumamos un nuevo juego multijugador donde, por fin, podremos jugar al Quidditch en competitivo… el resultado es la bomba del hype.

Warner Bros. ha revelado la existencia de un nuevo juego de Harry Potter. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions es un juego multijugador competitivo basado en el deporte de ficción popularizado por las novelas de Harry Potter.

El anuncio ha pillado a tantos por sorpresa que en los canales de Warner Bros. Games oficiales de Estados Unidos o España no hay rastro del anuncio. Solo la filial italiana ha subido vídeo a su canal de YouTube, arriba tienes el vídeo.

Siguiendo con el movimiento inesperado, el sitio web del juego es un poco escueto, ya que sólo incluye un portal de inscripción para probar el juego, el cual dice que llegará a todas las consolas y a PC.

Y luego un extenso apartado de preguntas frecuentes en el que se destacan detalles sobre el juego, su editor, Portkey Games, y el grado de implicación de la creadora, escritora y polémica J.K. Rowling.

Cómo registrarte a la beta de Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

Las preguntas frecuentes no indican cuándo saldrá a la venta el juego ni en qué plataformas, pero sí que lleva varios años en desarrollo.

Para poder registrarte y optar a que en el futuro te seleccionen para las distintas betas del juego, lo único que tienes que hacer es pinchar aquí y crearte una cuenta en Warner Bros. Games siempre que seas mayor de edad.

El superventas Hogwarts Legacy, el juego de mundo abierto de Harry Potter que tiene lugar cientos de años antes de los acontecimientos del libro, no incluye el quidditch como minijuego dentro del título y muchos especulaban que llegaría en forma de DLC más adelante.

Ahora, con el anuncio de este Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions enfocado tan solo al juego multijugador competitivo, vemos muy difícil que el Hogwarts Legacy acabe recibiendo dicho parche.

La gran pregunta que nos hacemos es si el Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions será Free to Play o un juego de pago. En la redacción muchos apuestan por lo primero, sobre todo por el tipo de videojuego que es y el aspecto a Fortnite que tiene.

En cambio, otros piensan que en Warner Bros. Games no van a perder la oportunidad de poner el juego a 70 euros de salida y aprovecharse de los millones de jugadores del Hogwarts Legacy que se han quedado con las ganas de jugar al quidditch.

Yesterday the magical world of Harry Potter lived another of its big days of 2023. Recall that a few weeks ago Hogwarts Legacy arrived in stores, a game that has swept sales.

And a few days ago HBO announced a series about the magical world of Harry Potter. If we add to all this a new multiplayer game where, finally, we can play Quidditch in competitive… the result is the hype bomb.

Warner Bros. has revealed the existence of a new Harry Potter game. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a competitive multiplayer game based on the fictional sport popularized by the Harry Potter novels.

The announcement has caught so many by surprise that in the official Warner Bros. Games channels in the United States or Spain there is no trace of the announcement. Only the Italian subsidiary has uploaded video to its YouTube channel, above is the video.

Following the unexpected move, the game’s website is a bit terse, as it only includes a registration portal to try the game, which says it will come to all consoles and PC.

And then a lengthy FAQ section highlighting details about the game, its publisher, Portkey Games, and the extent of creator, writer and controversial J.K. Rowling’s involvement.

How to register for the beta of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

The FAQ does not indicate when the game will be released or on which platforms, but it does indicate that the game has been in development for several years.

In order to register and be eligible to be selected for future betas of the game, all you have to do is click here and create an account at Warner Bros. Games as long as you are of legal age.

Once you enter your email address and password, the portal will take you to the next screen where you have to choose the platforms you want to play on: Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Ps4, PS5, Nintendo Switch or PC.

Then, as a last step, it’s up to you to say the hours you have played throughout your life to the different genres of video games. This step is really weird, but I filled it in just in case.

What we know about Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

The best-selling Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world Harry Potter game set hundreds of years before the events of the book, does not include quidditch as a mini-game within the title and many speculated that it would arrive in the form of DLC at a later date.

Now, with the announcement of this Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions focused only on competitive multiplayer play, we see it very difficult that Hogwarts Legacy will end up receiving such a patch.

The big question is whether Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be Free to Play or a paid game. In the editorial staff many are betting on the former, especially because of the type of video game it is and the Fortnite aspect it has.

Wilkes Land

At 300 miles in diameter, the Wilkes Earth crater (the “king” of terrestrial craters) is hidden behind a layer of ice more than a kilometer thick. where, you say? Well, in Antarctica, where else but? Its age, 250 million years, coincides with the mass extinction of the Permian-Triassic, considered the greatest extinction in the history of our planet, so it could be the cause.

Vredefort

The meteorite that caused the crater must have been approximately 10 to 15 kilometers in diameter, and its impact was so powerful that it scattered debris over an area of 1,600,000 square kilometers. Such a large impact is believed to have scattered debris globally.

Chicxulub

The Chicxulub crater is one of the best-known craters in the world, measuring 180 kilometers in diameter. Its name in the Mayan language means “devil flea”, and its age is dated at more than 66 million years.

The meteorite that caused the crater must have measured between 10 and 18 kilometers in diameter, and released an amount of energy equivalent to 100 teratons of TNT. An impact of such magnitude that it would have caused some of the largest megatsunamis in the history of planet Earth, and that could be the main cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs.

How can I see the comet? Do we have to worry about its brightness?

Next February 1 will be the day the comet is at its closest point to Earth. This will happen around 1:11 pm in the US (EST).

As for the brightness that the comet will give off, there will be nothing to worry about. NASA has reported that the star can be observed with the naked eye without the need to use other gadgets. When we have chosen a point to see the comet, it is convenient to wait for half an hour for our eyes to adapt to the light.

Light Pollution Map es una web app que te permitirá ver en qué zonas existe una mayor o menor contaminación lumínica.

Ya solo queda poco más de un día para ver al cometa verde en el firmamento. El cometa C/2022 E3 (ZTF) pasará muy cerca de la Tierra entre el 1 y el 2 de febrero, dejando tras de sí una característica estela de color verde brillante. Un cometa cuya trayectoria también podrá seguirse a través de la app Sky Map, sin necesidad de salir de nuestras casas.

A la hora de contemplar este tipo de cuerpos celestes aproximándose a la Tierra (tranquilo, no es un asteroide, aunque de estos existen miles cerca de nosotros) hay que tener en cuenta la contaminación lumínica a la que estamos expuestos, sobre todo si vivimos en grandes ciudades. Si quieres saber dónde ver el cometa verde, no estaría de más echarle antes un ojo a la web app Light Pollution Map.

La premisa es simple: con un solo vistazo al mapa de Light Pollution Map, podrás ver qué partes de la zona donde vives tienen una mayor contaminación lumínica. Es decir, aquellos sitios donde existe una gran cantidad de iluminación artificial que, de noche, afecta a la visibilidad del cielo y de las estrellas.

Las zonas marcadas con los colores blanco, rosa y rojo son aquellas donde existe mayor cantidad de iluminación artificial, y de ahí baja en intensidad en función de si es de color amarillo, verde o azul, donde la contaminación lumínica es muy baja.

Si existe mucha contaminación lumínica en tu zona, no podrás ver más que el cielo negro, la Luna y algún que otro planeta, como Marte (y esto solo en algunos casos). Mientras que, si la zona donde vives no tiene mucha iluminación artificial en sus cercanías, podrás disfrutar del cielo estrellado y contemplar eventos astronómicos, como las lluvias de estrellas o el acercamiento del cometa verde.

¿Cómo puedo ver el cometa? ¿Hay que preocuparse por el brillo?

El próximo 1 de febrero será el día en el que el cometa se encuentre en su punto más cercano a la Tierra. Esto ocurrirá sobre las 19:11 de la tarde en España (hora peninsular).

En cuanto al brillo que desprenderá el cometa, no habrá que preocuparse. La NASA ha informado que el astro podrá ser observado a simple vista sin necesidad de emplear otros artilugios. Cuando hayamos escogido un punto para ver el cometa, es conveniente esperar durante media hora para que nuestros ojos se adapten a la luz.

Para vislumbrar al cometa de la mejor manera posible, primero necesitarás tener unos prismáticos o en su lugar, un telescopio pequeño. Debes tener en cuenta que el mejor momento para verlo será durante el anochecer. El cometa dejará tras de sí un halo verde inconfundible, lo que te servirá para identificarlo fácilmente.

Hogwarts Legacy: entre el récord y la polémica

Apenas quedan unas semanas para que recibamos entre nosotros Hogwarts Legacy, uno de los videojuegos más esperados de este 2023. Tras muchos años de desarrollo y algún que otro retraso, el título ambientado en el mundo de Harry Potter no para de acumular éxitos… incluso antes de salir al mercado. No obstante, también bordea la polémica.

En Softonic nos adentramos en este terreno mágico para hablar de sus récords, de lo esperado que es y de por qué tanto revuelo.

El más esperado

Lo bueno de los números es que estos no engañan -otro aspecto bien diferente es la interpretación que se haga de estos-. En estos momentos, Hogwarts Legacy es el juego más deseado de Steam con un total de 266.339 registros. Esto significa que todos estos usuarios han añadido esta aventura en la “lista de deseados” de la plataforma. ¿Quiere decir que se vaya a comprar? Para nada, pero es toda una declaración de intenciones de cara a futuro. No obstante, hay un número muy relevante que sí habla bien de las ventas.

Según la base de datos Steamdb, en estos momentos Hogwarts Legacy es uno de los cinco videojuegos más vendidos de Steam. Aquí ya no es cliquear en lista de deseados, sino que significa que es gente que lo ha comprado y está a la espera de que se lance para descargar (y descargarlo, claro).

Estos son números de PC, pero todo apunta a que las ventas de consolas van a ser parecidas. De hecho, el analista de ventas Benji Sales pronostica unos 5 o 6 millones de videojuegos vendidos durante su primera semana a la venta.

Qué es Hogwarts Legacy

Detrás de Hogwarts Legacy se encuentra un videojuego que toma el universo creado por J. K. Rowling como telón de fondo. Esto quiere decir que todos aquellos elementos identificativos estarán presentes en ese mundo, desde el colegio de Hogwarts hasta muchos de sus personajes principales. No hablamos de protagonistas, ojo, sino de criaturas, salas, asignaturas, etc. Todo aquello que gira alrededor del universo de Harry Potter, pues el juego cuenta con ello licenciado. Eso sí, ambientado en la década de 1890 y no cuando tiene lugar la aventura per se de Harry Potter.

El videojuego está siendo desarrollado por Avalanche, estudio con bastante solera por sus casi tres décadas creando títulos. No obstante, cabe resaltar que en enero de 2017 fue adquirido por Warner Bros, y este detalle es especialmente importante: sólo unos meses después, la compañía creó Portkey Games, un sello para lanzar videojuegos ambientados en el universo de Harry Potter.

Todo apunta a que aquí fue cuando arrancó el desarrollo de este Hogwarts Legacy. De hecho, a finales de 2018 se filtró material de un proyecto RPG que tenía este universo como protagonista. Cuando se anunció oficialmente en septiembre de 2020, los usuarios pudimos confirmar que todo ese material filtrado pertenecía a Hogwarts Legacy.

Cabe destacar que el juego estaba previsto lanzarse para el 2021, pero se retrasó dos veces: una primera para 2022, y luego en 2022 se fue hasta 2023. Ahora, eso sí, parece que será la definitiva, en concreto el próximo 10 de febrero para PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S y Nintendo Switch (esta versión llegará en julio).

La polémica

El desarrollo de Hogwarts Legacy ha estado repleto de polémica. Más allá de los retrasos sufridos y el secretismo en torno al juego, hay un aspecto que está siendo el más comentado: la implicación de J. K. Rowling en el desarrollo.

Como bien sabrá ya el lector, la escritora anglosajona está inmersa en la polémica desde 2019 por las personas transgéneros. Raro es el mes donde no deja caer alguna declaración en contra de este colectivo, algo que, como es lógico, no ha gustado nada a la comunidad de lectores. De hecho, incluso actores como Daniel Radcliffe o Emma Watson, tan importantes por ser los protagonistas de las películas de Harry Potter, se han posicionado en contra de ella.

Ante toda esta polémica, tanto estudio como editora han puntualizado, además en varias ocasiones, que J. K. Rowling no está involucrada en la producción. Esta sólo aporta los derechos de su obra para que el estudio cree su mundo. Ya está.

A pesar de esta confirmación, han sido numerosos los jugadores que se han posicionado a lo largo de estos tres años en contra del videojuego, con incluso comentarios incitando a que no se compre. No obstante, y como se puede ver con números en la mano de reservados y lista de deseados, parece que Hogwarts Legacy va a ser un éxito.
